Board Rescue Works with Levi Strauss for Annual Community Service Day

May 10, 2013 – San Francisco – Board Rescue was honored to be part of Levi Strauss and Co’s Annual Community Service Day. Board Rescue, working with HandsOn Bay Area, helped forty Levi volunteers’ assembled 300 skateboards in under four hours. The skateboards, along with helmets, backpack and some clothing, will be donated, through Board Rescue, to local schools and non-profit youth-groups around San Francisco and the Bay Area.

NHS (Santa Cruz Skateboards) donated 150 of the 300 decks. Levi Strauss & Co. then purchased all the components necessary to build 300 skateboards.

“The generosity of Levi and its employees is truly amazing,” said Gary Holl, President and Founder, Board Rescue. “Their commitment to serve the community was exemplified by their work today. Most of the volunteers were not skateboarders. But they were determined to complete the project.”

The event was part of the 13th Annual Levi Strauss & Co. Worldwide Day of service. Around the world over 3000 employees volunteered to serve local non-profit organizations at 168 projects in 71 locations. The Board Rescue event took place at Levi’s corporate headquarters in San Francisco.

Among the volunteers assembling the skateboards were Chip Bergh, President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co’s and Jed York, President of the San Francisco 49ers. The skateboards, along with helmets, will be donated to various organizations that work with underprivileged and or at-risk children in and around San Francisco.
